Charles and Linda Wegman have resolved to give up their old lives as accountants and intend to start a bakery + food truck restaurant.

Their site is in upstate New York, in a residential urban area, containing a canal and large sidewalk.

They are looking to create a home, as well as a basis for their business ventures. In addition, they wish to fund their endeavors with two rental buildings for professors or students.

By cracking the site into 3 separate sections, we are able to provide these desired programs as well as a central courtyard for food serving

By building with CLT, the wood templates can simply be scaled down to create the 1/8" scale model

A roof system was designed for the eventual introduction of solar panels, providing optimal angles for their placement, while also referencing local roof typologies in the second empire style.

A series of porch conditions help define the barrier between public and private, the complex features screened in porches, open porches, 3 season rooms, and entirely insulated window areas.

Folded paper models allowed us to iterate in form as well as calculate surface area for net-zero calculations.

Above the central courtyard, a pergola grid draws in visitors from the street, creating an atmosphere for serving food to the general public.
