Designed at Cornell University, the 3d printed gyroid structure was constructed with the Daedalus 3d printer, from HANNA studio.

The gyroid is a triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) that efficiently distributes high stress under compression loading.

Constructed of Concrete, the form utilizes around 50% as much concrete with the same compressive strength as a solid object of the same size.

The gyroid provides a series of holes, created by the meeting of two "S-curves" between each layer.

The use of sand as a support material creates a rough and smooth side between layers.
